You walk around the truck and notice something on the tire.
Maybe it is:

When the damage is located in the sidewall of a commercial truck tire, the answer requires caution.
The sidewall performs a completely different job than the tread area and experiences constant flexing while the truck is moving.

1. Why the Sidewall Is Different
The tread is designed to contact the road.
The sidewall connects the tread area to the bead and allows the tire to flex as the vehicle travels.
Every revolution of the tire causes the sidewall to:

5. Can a Sidewall Puncture Be Plugged?

A plug may appear to stop an air leak.
But stopping the leak does not automatically restore the structural integrity of the tire.
